Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has been arrested in connection with a tragic stampede at the premiere of his latest film Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4, 2024. The incident, which took place at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman and left her 9-year-old son hospitalized.

The police took Allu Arjun into custody on December 13, 2024, after the family of the deceased woman filed a complaint. The actress' family accused the actor, his security team, and the theatre management of negligence. The stampede occurred when a large crowd of fans gathered at the theatre hoping to catch a glimpse of the star, leading to chaos and a dangerous situation.

According to the police, they were aware of Allu Arjun's attendance at the event but could not control the crowd. The woman who died in the stampede was identified as Revathi, and her son, Sri Teja, was admitted to the hospital for asphyxiation, though he is recovering now.

Following the incident, the police filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Indian Penal Code. These sections deal with causing public danger due to negligence, and the case was registered at Chikkadpally police station, where the incident was reported.

Allu Arjun, in his response to the tragic event, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the deceased woman’s family. He promised to financially support the family with ₹25 lakh and offered to meet them in person. The actor also shared his sorrow on social media, assuring the grieving family that they were not alone during this difficult time. In the wake of the arrest, Allu Arjun’s legal team filed a petition in the Telangana High Court, seeking to quash the FIR and halt any further proceedings, including his arrest. The court is expected to hear the petition soon.

This incident isn’t the first tragic event surrounding the Pushpa 2 screenings. A second fan, Harijana Madhannappa, was found dead after attending a screening on December 9. He was reportedly intoxicated when the incident occurred, though the cause of death is still being investigated. Fans of Allu Arjun are awaiting further updates on the case, with the actor’s legal team actively working to resolve the matter.
