The actor Nitanshi Goel recently shared how Kriti Sanon complimented her work in the film Laapataa Ladies. Speaking to a media outlet, Nitanshi revealed her excitement about receiving such high praise from Kriti at an award function.
Kriti is believed to have shared that Nitanshi resembled her own younger version. She also expressed her hope to see Nitanshi excel in future projects, saying she wished to watch her "kill it" on screen. Nitanshi described the moment as overwhelming and one she would cherish forever.

Nitanshi also opened up about a significant scene in the movie where her character, Phool, breaks down in a public toilet at a railway station. She mentioned that the scene was entirely improvised after she suggested it to the film's director, Kiran Rao. Kiran reportedly encouraged her to follow her instincts, which led to an emotional performance that brought the crew to tears.

Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies is a feminist drama set in early 2000s rural India. The story revolves around two brides, Phool and Jaya, played by Nitanshi and Pratibha Ranta, whose lives turn chaotic after being accidentally swapped during a train journey. The film also features Sparsh Shrivastav, Chhaya Kadam, Ravi Kishan, and Geeta Agrawal Sharma.
Although selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars by the Film Federation of India, Laapataa Ladies did not make it to the final shortlist of 15 films. Despite this, the film has been praised for its unique storytelling and subversive themes. The film received immense love during its theatrical run and continues to be appreciated following its release on OTT, and is now available on Netflix.
