Santosh Sivan, a towering figure in Indian cinema, has become the first Indian to receive the prestigious Pierre Angénieux tribute at the Cannes Film Festival’s 77th edition.
The award ceremony will be held on 24 May, 2024.
The son of a renowned photographer and film producer, Sivan’s journey in the field began at the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
He burst onto the scene in 1992 with his groundbreaking work on Mani Ratnam’s ‘Roja’ — forever changing the landscape of Indian cinema.
Over six decades of work, the cinematographer has honed his craft into a powerful storytelling tool, with each frame he captures becoming a meticulously preserved, cherished memory.
This tribute is a crowning achievement for the five-time national award winner for cinematography and an acclaimed director with numerous national and international accolades.
