Pune Festival's ' Jugalbandi ' concert receives overwhelming applause from the audience!!

Audiences were mesmerized by the Santoor and Sanai performances

Pune - The impressive playing of young santoor player Dr. Shantanu Gokhale and the mature playing of senior clarinet player Pt. Shailesh Bhagwat , this dual vocal harmony was experienced by the audience at the Balgandharva Rangmandir on Thursday. On the occasion of the ' Jugalbandi ' concert under the Pune Festival, the audience had the opportunity to experience the richness of classical Indian music once again.

Pt. Shivkumar Sharma's disciple Dr. Shantanu Gokhale's santoor playing added colour to the first half. Keeping in mind the enthusiastic atmosphere of Ganeshotsav, Dr. Shantanu began the performance with the popular devotional composition ' Ekdantai Vakratunday Shree Ganeshaya Dheemah ' . Then, as a tribute to the memories of Guru Pt. Shivkumar Sharma's favorite composers Madanmohan and O. P. Nayyar, he presented a medley of the popular songs ' Lag Ja Gale ', ' Deewana Hua Badal '. He also played the composition ' Dekha Ek Khwab To Ye Silsile Huve ' from the film ' Silsila ' by composer Shiv Hari . After that, Dr. Shantanu presented Raga Bageshri. In a short time , he presented compositions in Alap, Jod and Tritala. Hemant Joshi, a disciple of Pt. Ramdas Palsule, accompanied him on tabla.

Pune Festival Chief Organizer Adv. Abhay Chhajed , Cultural Program Head Dr. Satish Desai , and Sachin Salunke felicitated the artists. Coordinator Mohan Tillu introduced the artists and conducted the program.

In the latter half, the audience enjoyed the clarinet playing of the famous Pt. Shailesh Bhagwat. Playing with a singing voice was a specialty of his skill. Pt. Bhagwat started his playing with Raga Shyamakalyan. He advanced it in the manner of Raga Vachak Alap, Jod.... He presented compositions in Ektaal and Trital in this raga. After this, to the delight of the audience, he presented the song ' Tere Sur Aur Mere Geet ' from the film ' Guaj Uthi Shehnai ' . After that, he created a unique atmosphere by playing Gaat in Malakans Raga Aada, Chautal and Trital. He presented Thumri Dhun in Dadra Taal and concluded his playing with Bhairavi Dhun in Trital.

Pt. Vinayak Gurav accompanied him on the tabla. Abhijit Jadhav and Suresh Dolse accompanied him on the clarinet. Chandrashekhar Paranjape accompanied the clarinet and Dr. Upendra Sahasrabudhe accompanied him on the harmonium. Senior singer and actress Madhuwanti Dandekar, who is a veteran of musical theatre, was also present on this occasion. The program was attended by a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators. Atul Gonjari and Shrikant Kamble supervised the management of this program.
